BANGKOK – At the PCI Asia-Pacific Community Meeting today, the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) announced the newly-elected 2017-2019 Board of Advisors.
The PCI SSC works with organizations around the globe to help secure payment data, and this latest Board of Advisors brings together some of the world’s leading companies from all sectors in the payments space – including vendors, merchants, processors, banks and other relevant associations and organizations. Board members also represent regions around the world to ensure the PCI Standards reflect payment security globally.
The 2017-2019 PCI SSC Board of Advisors members are from the following organizations:
Among many duties, Board members provide directional and technical input on matters of focus vital for maintaining payment security standards. Areas of importance include identifying new and emerging threats, information sharing with industry and law enforcement, and addressing merchant needs across vertical industry sectors and global regions. New board members are already contributing to the PCI security community as Participating Organizations.
PCI SSC General Manager Stephen W. Orfei said, “The new PCI SSC Board of Advisors represents the very best and brightest from some of the most impressive companies and organizations in the world. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and join us in our battle against cybercrime. The input and direction we receive from our Board of Advisors is highly valued, and we look forward to getting down to work with this outstanding group. We all share the same goal of securing payment data globally.” PCI SSC International Director Jeremy King, said, “Cyber threats today come from every corner of the globe and are relentless. New payment methods also create new opportunities for cybercriminals, which is why we need international cooperation and expertise. PCI is fortunate to have new Board members from Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the U.S. providing valuable intelligence and wisdom on matters involving payment security. Only by working together internationally can we stem the tide of cybercrime. We feel so fortunate to have such a talented group to serve on our Board of Advisors.”
The PCI SSC will host its annual Community Meetings starting this week in Bangkok, Thailand. The North America conference will be held in Orlando, Florida 12-14 September and the Europe Community Meeting will be in Barcelona, Spain 24-26 October. At the meetings payment and security experts from around the world will discuss trends in cybercrime, hacking, successful defensive measures, law enforcement and much more. The Council invites all who are interested in cybersecurity to get involved and join the PCI community.
