Streamlining Your Marketing Strategy: Insights from the RSPA Marketing Community

By: RSPA Marketing Community

At a recent RSPA Marketing Community meeting, members heard from Courtney Flaherty and Matthew Young of Brandspoke Creative House on how to streamline marketing efforts, especially for SMBs or marketing teams of one.

The discussion focused on reducing inefficiencies, prioritizing the right work, and using tools and processes to make marketing more manageable and impactful.

Discussion takeaways and insights include:

  1. Prioritization Drives Performance,Not Just Productivity
Marketing teams often focus on short-term results, but brand awareness should not be deprioritized. Strong brand efforts build trust and improve the effectiveness of all other marketing activities.
  2. Planning Tools Create Efficiency and Alignment
Simple planning tools like briefs, calendars, and project systems help reduce confusion and save time. Clear structure keeps teams aligned and prevents unnecessary rework.
  3. Not Everything Deserves Your Time
Unnecessary meetings, unclear requests, and last-minute projects often waste valuable time. Reprioritizing and setting boundariesallows marketers to stay focused on high-impact work.
  4. Repurposing Content Maximizes Impact
Reusing and breaking down existing content saves time and extends its value. One strong piece of content can support multiple channels and ongoing campaigns.
  5. AI Is a Tool–Use It Strategically
AI is useful for ideation, summaries, and data analysis. It should be used carefully and not relied on for final creative outputs or sensitive information.
  6. Smarter Workflows Reduce Overwhelm
Better planning, clearer priorities, and the right tools help teams work more efficiently. Marketing success comes from working smarter, not doing more.
