Legal Assistance
Benefit: Access to standards, documents and forms / Save money (legal counsel can cost in excess of $400/hr.)

RSPA offers a Legal Assistance Program exclusively for our members. The RSPA Legal Assistance Program offers a Legal Hotline (no-cost legal consultation), contracts and forms packages, strategic partner packages, and employment packages to help you run your business. Whether an issue involves a supplier, end-user, or employee, the proper legal approach to the issue will be provided. The retail technology industry has changed dramatically during the past few years and the Legal Assistance Program is a way for members to stay up to date.

Real Life Savings:
In 2009, RSPA members used an estimated $160,000worth of legal services at absolutely no cost to them.

Property & Casualty Business Protection Plan
Benefit: Access to standards, documents and forms

Business owners deserve complete protection - not substandard, restrictive coverage that could put them at risk. That's why RSPA has joined with Sentry Insurance to offer a new Property and Casualty Protection Plan at group rates for RSPA Members. Sentry was formed as a mutual insurance company in 1904 by a group of hardware retail merchants who wanted to meet the insurance needs of their association members. Sentry provides insurance plans that incorporate important initiatives for members such as customized loss control services, a toll-free accident reporting hotline, managed medical care services and fraud prevention efforts.

During the Spring of 2009, Buzz Cymalo with CC Productions, Inc. in Hoboken, NJ saved $16,000 by switching to RSPA’s Sentry Insurance plan.

RSPA is the Center for Industry Education working year-round to ensure essential industry information and training is available to the membership. RSPA offers online (webinar), on-site, and on-demand education sessions. Educational seminars for all levels of retail technology professionals are offered at both our summer and winter events, RetailNOW and INSPIRE.

Scholarships

Children, grandchildren, full time employees, and children of full time employees of an RSPA member dealer are eligible for an RSPA scholarship. The RSPA member-dealer must be in good standing and a member for the past three years. If an employee of a member is applying, they too must have been employed by the member-dealer for the past three years. RSPA connect awards over $100,000 in college scholarships each year.

Real Life Savings:
$76,500 in college scholarships were awarded in 2009 to children of RSPA members and RSPA member employees.

UPS Program

The RSPA/UPS Shipping Program was officially launched in October 2003. This program offers significant discounts on ground and air shipping (within the continental U.S.) as long as the aggregate shipping revenues meet UPS’s targets for the program. The program requires no new payment arrangements, no new UPS accounts, and no changes at all from the arrangement that each member currently has with UPS. Discounts will be automatically applied to shipments made from their existing accounts. 

Real Life Savings:
During 2009, RSPA Members net spent on the program was $24,615 per week and the combined weekly savings were $7,580 per week.
    
In 2008, there were a total of 259 members using the UPS program saving a total of $395,000. That is a savings of over $1,500 per member.

RSPA Freight Savings Plan
Benefit: No enrollment fees or minimum shipping quotas apply so you can save no matter how much shipping you do.  |  View a full list of discounts.

The RSPA Freight Savings Plan offers savings on select FedEx Express® and FedEx Ground® services, as well as FedEx Freight® LTL (less-than-truckload) and FedEx National LTL services. Competitive LTL discounts are also available with YRC (formerly Yellow Transportation and Roadway), including YRC exhibit transportation services. UPS Freight® offers discounts on regional. interregional and long-haul service backed by an on-time guarantee at no additional charge. The freight program also offers special RSPA rates on international shipping.

On March 2, 2009 - RSPA entered into a partnership with Nashua Corporation to offer members a POS & Imaging Supplies Member Discount Affinity Program. This partnership enables RSPA to offer members a valuable paper discount program at competitive market pricing. In the past, RSPA Services (which ceased operations as of Feb. 28, 2009) was the point of contact for purchasing paper and ribbon supplies. With this new program, members will contact Nashua directly when purchasing POS supplies. Nashua will handle the complete transaction from order entry through delivery and invoicing. 

 

Office Max
Benefit: To sign up to receive your discount card today, you must be an RSPA Member. 

Save 30 - 50% by using an RSPA issued Office Max Savings Card or set up your own account to save and receive credits every time you use your account savings card.

 

Pre-Employ.com
Benefit: Once you become an RSPA member, you can log into your account and visit the detailed member benefits section to learn more.

Today many retailers are requiring their vendors installing and supporting retail technology to do a background check on their employees. PCI Compliance requirement 12.7 calls for merchants to vet their employees and contractors who have any contact with card holder data. To assist with meeting that requirement RSPA has partnered with pre-employ.com to provide over a 30% discount on their most popular employment screening package.

 

Sprint

RSPA has teamed up with Sprint to offer our members and their employee’s special savings on Sprint and Nextel services and equipment. Currently, Sprint is offering an 8% monthly savings for equipment as well as an extra $50 off for any new activation. Members can also expect monthly services discounts, extensive equipment discounts and special member only promotions each month.
