Fast Selling Leads to Slow Sales
An old saying of the retail community is that people don't buy because they understand you; they buy because they think you understand them. To that point the skill of 'selling' is best seen as one learns the science of selling and then is able to turn that information into a piece of art. That is one of the challenges in helping a retailer in selecting their software system; as a software provider the first sale is that of helping the retailer to see the provider as a source of information. For that to occur, we must have an understanding of the challenges the independent wants to solve with their system; there may even by problems that are present that the independent is unable to identify. A sale should not be a 'one time event' but instead the effort should be for repeat and referral sales. In today's economy there are not enough businesses out there to simply make a sale and then move on to the next potential sale.
