Meet the 2010-2011 Board of Directors

Brad Holaway
Copperstate Restaurant Technologies
Past Chairman of the Board
"Statistically speaking, success breeds failure. If that’s true, we as an association have our work cut out for us this year. The only effective antidote for this dilemma is an intense focus on execution. As your board of directors, our job is to hold us accountable for results: results with membership growth, results with education and certification, and results with financial performance. Our marching orders are clear; we need to build on our success setting the pace and direction for our industry as we execute on our strategic plan."
Les Farrance
Comprehensive Retail Solutions
Chairman-Elect

“After spending the past six years serving on a variety of committees for RSPA, I look forward to the challenge of being part of the executive team as the chairman-elect. My goal for the coming year is to listen and learn from the current and previous Chairmen so that I may be prepared to help keep the momentum going for our association during this period of unprecedented change and growth.”
Dave McCarthy
Dumac Business Systems
Secretary/Treasurer

“My role as the Secretary-Treasurer of RSPA is two-fold… As Secretary, I take the minutes of each Board of Director meeting (including conference calls) and then provide the minutes back to Joe Finizio, our Legal Counsel Bob Goldberg and the Board. As Treasurer, I work with our President Joe Finizio, our Chairman Jason Cowan and RSPA staff to make sure we are on track financially. As much as possible, we deal with issues promptly to minimize “surprises” at year end. We have a very active Board and experienced RSPA staff who are all working very hard on our Member’s behalf.”

Scott Berkshire
Tulsa Cash Register
"PCI issues and education about PCI are still among the toughest issues we face today. Trying to educate the merchants and provide compliant solutions is something we will be doing for a long time to come. I hope to gain some ground in this fight and make PCI something every merchant at least knows about and hopefully they become willing to talk about how we as technology dealers and vendors can help them."
Bart Collins
Macro Integration Services
"I look forward to continuing to serve on the scholarship and education committees. I believe in the importance of keeping our young people involved in this industry, and the scholarship program is a great way to ensure this. I am also excited to continue working towards completing the certification process with the education committee. I believe we are just scratching the surface of the benefits that can come to our organization from the certification process."
Bill Kisse
Electronic Systems Services
"A number of significant changes in technology and our end-user expectations continue at a rapid pace. These have been and will continue to erode our “traditional” business models. It is incumbent upon us as an association and as individual members to keep a watchful eye on the opportunities and threats that are continually created in this ever-changing environment. I will continue to work with our fellow members to encourage open and full collaboration in these areas to ensure the future success of our members and association.”

Jason Knorpp
DirectPOS
"As a new member to the Board my goal is to bring fresh ideas and focus to some of the great things already happening in the RSPA. As a participant on the Membership Committee I will work hard to drive membership and help our organization grow. As the RSPA grows it will be better positioned to serve its members and our industry. I plan to help that growth in any way possible."
 Lee Kosmen
Euthenics, Inc.
"I look forward to making a serious contribution to RSPA by working closely with our new Chairman of the Board, Jason, the board members and committees. I hope to focus my attention to learning from those senior RSPA board members who will share their experiences in the industry, thoughts and ideas of how we can continue to make RSPA the finest association ever. I will endeavor to bring forward the excitement and zeal that I experienced at the best show to date, RetailNOW 2010 and to extend the kindness shown to me by some of the finest members anywhere. I appreciate this opportunity to serve and want to thank those who supported me and those who will in the future."
John Lohr
JCR Systems
“My goal for the upcoming year is to help every RSPA member become more successful in their business. In a tight economy it is more important than ever to network with our peers, explore every opportunity to generate additional revenue streams and educate ourselves concerning current industry trends.”

BJ Maynard
Management Control Systems
“After returning from RetailNOW 2010, I feel, strongly, that our goal should be 100% participation from the membership in our education and certification program. My focus will be to help the education committee in the efforts to help those members who are not yet certified understand just how much this certification will help the reseller validate his or her business."
Mark Olson
APG Cash Drawer
"It’s been an honor to serve on the RSPA board, and get to know some of the industry’s most amazing entrepreneurs. I intend to continue to work this year to help grow our industry, as well as support the association’s educational journey, which helps the most effective demand creators (resellers) in our industry be more successful and effective. If we can help enhance the loyalty of the reseller’s customers to them, we’ll all be more successful. I also think it’s important to share ideas and knowledge that might help some members stay relevant as we learn what the new economic reality truly means, and find where the best future opportunities are."
Tom Reichart
Mercury Payment Systems
"My main goal this year is to be a proponent of and promote the IAP program. I believe every current member and those not involved will gain huge dividends by the networking and education the program can bring getting even stronger as the program grows and adds value. I plan to work very closely with the membership committee and other vendors ensuring the RSPA meets its membership growth metrics."

Jim Roddy
Jameson Publishing
"During our longstanding partnership, BSM and the RSPA have worked hand-in-hand towards the same goal of enhancing the retail channel. I hope that serving on the board will allow BSM to further advance the RSPA's goals, which we strongly believe benefit all dealers, vendors, and distributors working in the retail channel. I'd like to continue the momentum the RSPA has built over the past several years and add more dealers and vendors as members so our organization's voice can grow even stronger."
Lynn Skurla
Skurla's Business & Hospitality Systems
"I look forward to working with the staff, committees, and board members to continue positioning the RSPA organization as the premier educational and professional resource for the point of sale industry. These are exciting times, and we have the opportunity to help grow this organization and the industry as a whole."
Jim Stewart
Advanced Data Systems
"One of the great benefits of being a member of RSPA is the networking aspect. It is very beneficial to be able to talk to someone that has already had success in a certain area. What I would like to do is create a program similar to the SBA's S.C.O.R.E. program. I would like to try and get industry leaders to donate a small amount of time each month to answer questions from other RSPA members in a more formal setting."
